IS DAILY DISPATCH LOOSING IT?
I was totaly shocked and flabbagasted and also dissapointed by the publication published by Daily Dispatch. It was a picture of a dead baby left to rot in one of the State-run morturies.
The newspaper claim to have done this to show the seriousness of the situation in that mortury. But this is totaly unacceptable not only according to the Photography Act but also ethics. Where is the respect for the parents of the baby? As much as they also wanted to be compensated for this, I believe they also wanted the dignity of their baby to be honoured.
What happened to being considerable and sensitive in reporting? The editor's aim was to sell more by attracting and I'm pretty sure the Department of Health hasn't slept since then.
But are we journalist now putting the sales of our papers before ethics? As much as they did warn the readers this is traumer for some people. They should have least posted them on their website page where only those who want to can see it.
Are editors really that irresponsible?
