Being the person that I am , u know what I am, you'll expect me to know what ''smart casual'' really is. Well to your suprise I'm clueless. To justify it, maybe I know I'm just not sure. And it's essential that I know. I sometimes get invitations to fancy events like Gala Dinners, Birthday Parties, University Awards Ceremonies, Tomb Stone Unveilings, declaring that the dress code be ''smart casual.'' I forever get confused because I don't know what that means. My friends tell me it's anything ''smart and casual'' with no jeans though. Does that make significant sense to you? It doesn't to me. My mom tells me it can be a casual dress but not a maxi dress. I don't know, she might say that because I'm a collector of maxis and she dislike them. Once I went to a birthday party rocking my suit pants with a vest and was harshly told I should have gone with a complete suit, reason being the top was too casual. I then went to a wedding wearing an evening gown, a purple one of coarse and was criticised for being too formal, they didn't even say I was over-the-top, just too formal, since the dressing code was ''smart casual.'' Confused me I took to the dictionary to find the real meaning of casual. This is the report to the research:Casual clothes are comfortable clothes that you choose to wear in your free time. Thought provoking that is. Well there you go, may you now tell me what's wrong with that . What do we wear on our spare time? Leggings, jeans, track pants, vests, so does this mean I can wear that at a Gala Dinner? My heart tells me they will book me a one way ticket to prison because that's illegal. I decided to combine the defination of smart and casual. Correct me if I'm mistaken but I came up with comfortable, neat, formal clothes. Is it bingo ? because there's formal there. Do I now get it? Could it mean I should wear formal rather simple clothes? Who ever came up with the ''smart casual'' look clearly didn't think of me. If my findings are correct, then from today I wont be the black sheep who goes South when others go North.
